Celebrating One Year of Progress, People, and Purpose

One year ago, Jerry Seiner Honda of San Juan Capistrano opened its doors with a clear purpose: to bring a fresh, customer-first experience to the community while honoring the deep roots already established within the dealership. Today, as the team celebrates its first anniversary, that vision has not only taken shape, but it has exceeded expectations.

Over the past twelve months, the dealership has undergone meaningful transformation. From facility upgrades and operational enhancements to expanded inventory and improved customer processes, every change has been made with one goal in mind: delivering a better experience for every guest who walks through the doors.

But while the improvements are easy to see, what truly defines the success of Jerry Seiner Honda San Juan Capistrano is something far more enduring—its people. At the heart of this dealership is a group of dedicated team members whose commitment spans decades. These individuals represent the foundation of trust, knowledge, and consistency that customers have relied on for years. Their continued presence is not just a testament to their professionalism, but also to the culture that has carried forward into this new chapter.

Among them is Antonio Farias, Lot Manager, who brings an incredible 39 years of experience. His deep understanding of operations and unwavering work ethic have made him a cornerstone of the dealership’s daily success.

In sales, Nora Kelley (not pictured) stands out with 30 years of experience. Known for her ability to build lasting relationships, she embodies what it means to guide customers through one of life’s most important purchases with honesty and care.

Diane Thayer, who has welcomed customers as a receptionist for 28 years, is often the first smile guests encounter. Her warmth and professionalism set the tone for every visit, reinforcing the dealership’s commitment to hospitality.

In the service department, Christian DiLauro has spent 26 years helping customers keep their vehicles running at their best. His expertise and dedication ensure that every service experience is handled with precision and trust.

And behind the scenes, Mike Mirando, a service technician with 24 years of experience, plays a critical role in maintaining the quality and reliability customers expect from the Honda brand.

Together, these team members represent more than 149 years of combined experience, a remarkable legacy that continues to shape the dealership’s future. As Jerry Seiner Honda San Juan Capistrano reflects on its first year, there is a strong sense of momentum. The dealership has not only grown in performance but has strengthened its connection to the community. Customers have responded to a renewed focus on transparency, efficiency, and genuine care. Values that align with the broader philosophy of the Jerry Seiner organization: making friends that last a lifetime. Looking ahead, the future is bright. With a solid foundation built on experience, a commitment to continuous improvement, and a team that blends legacy with innovation, Jerry Seiner Honda San Juan Capistrano is poised for even greater success in the years to come.

This anniversary is more than a milestone; it’s a celebration of progress, people, and the promise of what’s still to come.

Barnoa Wine Bar

Barnoa Wine Bar

Barnoa Wine & Beer Bistro

by Dina Scaglione

Locally known as a hidden gem, Barnoa Wine & Beer Bistro in Talega offers a truly unique culinary experience. Rarely do you find a wine bar and taphouse sharing space, each with an impressive menu for connoisseurs on both sides. A thoughtfully curated selection of starters and entrees delivers more diversity than many local eateries. The ambiance strikes a balance between upscale and comfortably stylish, with a well-appointed bar anchoring the space and a large wraparound patio perfect for lively conversation, great wine and delicious fare. Think Cheers with a modern twist.

Owner Kim Norris curated the wine list with intention, offering enough variety for seasoned enthusiasts while still appealing to those looking to explore. The selection of Old World wines stands out, featuring hard-to-find varietals. Food is often where wine bars fall short, but not at Barnoa. The menu is thoughtfully designed to pair naturally with the wine. Each dish feels deliberate, well-executed and portioned for sharing. For starters, the Nutty Goat is a must—goat cheese coated in roasted peanuts, drizzled with chipotle brown sugar sauce and served with sliced French baguette. The Burrata Crostini is crisp and flavorful, topped with diced tomato, fresh basil, balsamic glaze and pesto. The Blackened Salmon Tacos arrive as a trio, layered with chipotle aioli, tangy slaw, pickled red onions and cilantro. Additional offerings include the Stuffed Acorn Squash, Pesto Penne Pasta, Barnoa Chicken Sandwich, Wagyu Beef Burger and Flat Iron Steak.

Join the Wine Club to receive two hand-selected wines each quarter, with the option of two reds or a red and a white. Happy hour runs Wednesday– Saturday from 3–5 p.m. and all day Sunday. Monthly events include themed dinners, wine tastings and educational classes. The space is also available for private events of up to 120 guests.

Whether you’re in the mood to explore or enjoy a favorite, Barnoa offers something for every palate. Open daily, hours are 3–9 p.m. Sunday and Monday, until 10 p.m. Tuesday–Thursday and until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It’s the kind of spot for a relaxed yet elevated night out—great wine, genuinely delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere that never tries too hard.

Acting Academy for Kids & Teens

Acting Academy for Kids & Teens

Acting Academy for Kids & Teens

If you have a child with a flair for the dramatic, a love of music, or a dream of seeing themselves on the big screen, the Z Playhouse, home of Acting Academy for Kids & Teens in Mission Viejo, might be exactly what your family has been looking for. Founded with a passion for youth arts education, the Acting Academy for Kids (AA4K) has evolved into a thriving hub for young performers. With new programs in everything from musical theater to filmmaking, local directors and founders, Stephen & Maggie Zygo, are building something special for the next generation of artists.

Acting Academy for Kids & TeensWeeklong summer camps are an Orange County tradition, and AA4K’s start on June 8 at the Z Playhouse in Mission Viejo, the Lyceum Village in Irvine/Tustin, and for the second year, the scenic Newport Theatre Arts Center overlooking Newport Harbor. The Newport Beach location has two adjacent parks so kids get to run and play outside, too. This year, campers will sing and dance to junior arrangements inspired by K-Pop Demon Hunters, Wicked 1 and 2, Harry Potter, and Tangled, the beloved fairy tale musical that is getting a live action movie next summer. Spots fill up quickly, so register early.

High school teens can join the once weekly summer production of Mamma Mia! This program meets one day a week and performs for family and friends at the end of the summer.

Year-Round Programs
During the academic year, the Z Playhouse in Mission Viejo shifts to a trimester-style schedule with three full-scale teen musicals each year. Main Stage Musical performers ages 5-14 will keep their quarterly schedule, and both kids and teens have after-school programs year-round.

Safety You Can Count On
For parents, knowing their children are in safe, capable hands is non-negotiable. AA4K takes this seriously: all staff members are CPR/First Aid-certified and have passed thorough background checks. It’s the kind of peace of mind that lets kids focus on performing, and lets parents relax in the audience.

Lights, Camera, Action: Film Programs Come to Life
Stage acting isn’t the only avenue for young talent at AA4K. The organization has expanded into film-acting education into AA4K Studios, a distinct discipline from traditional theater, giving kids the chance to explore the nuances of performing on camera. Last year, numerous kids starred in a short film that screened at the
Regal Theater in Laguna Niguel and as an added bonus, earned IMDb credit to launch their film careers.

Bringing the Magic to School
Not every family can make it to a dedicated theater campus, so AA4K is coming to them. Through after-school musical partnerships, AA4K is a full-service provider of theatre programs at public schools, Charter Schools, private schools and home school co-ops. These programs give students a complete musical theater experience right in their own school community, removing barriers and bringing arts education to more kids than ever.

Competing on the Big Stage: Junior Theater Festival
For students 7-14 ready to take their skills to the next level, AA4K participates in the Junior Theater Festival (JTF) in Sacramento, one of the most prestigious youth musical theater competitions in the country. This year, over 4,000 kids from across the region performed 15-minute musical excerpts, judged by three industry professionals who evaluated choreography, performance quality, and overall execution. This year, the AA4K team came home with a Best Choreography award, a testament to the quality of instruction and the dedication of its young performers. There are also master classes, educator workshops, and detailed feedback from adjudicators, making the festival as much a learning experience as a competition.

And, Scene!
Whether your child dreams of performing on Broadway, starring in a film, or simply discovering a love of storytelling, Acting Academy for Kids offers a nurturing, professional, and fun environment to grow. With programs for all ages and skill levels, and a team that genuinely cares about every child’s experience, it’s one of Orange County’s most exciting destinations for young artists.

A Family Legacy Built on Craftsmanship and Integrity

by Victoria Badzey

Founded in 1974 by an uncle and two brothers, California Windows began as a glass shop with a simple vision: to bring quality craftsmanship and genuine care to every project. Today, more than five decades later, the company stands as Orange County’s leading provider of high-end residential window and door installations.

Under the leadership of Dallas Conkle, the son of one of the original founders, the family legacy continues to thrive. Dallas says he runs the business the way he lives his life: intentionally, carefully and for the long term. Alongside his wife, Nichole, and their son, Wylder, he is building both a company and a community presence that reflect their deep-rooted values. For Dallas, every home they enhance is more than a project; it is a reflection of a family’s story, treated with the same care he would give his own.

From its Costa Mesa showroom, California Windows serves homeowners throughout Orange County, offering a curated selection of top-tier brands including Milgard, Fleetwood, LaCantina and Therma-Tru entry doors. To builders and homeowners alike, these brands represent quality and timeless design for homes that deserve the best. What truly sets California Windows apart, however, is not only the products it represents but the way every detail is handled in-house. “We do all installations ourselves — no outsourcing, no subcontractors,” Dallas explains. “Every installer is an employee, trained, certified and constantly improving.”

That unwavering commitment to craftsmanship and accountability has earned the company dozens of five-star reviews on Yelp, Google and Expertise.com. It also allows them to offer something few others can: a lifetime guarantee on all installation work. “There are no surprises,” Dallas says. “We know it all.”

With Dallas, his father, and his cousin Joshua each managing different aspects of the business, California Windows draws on more than 100 years of collective experience. They lead a team of 18 employees who are more like extended family than staff members. In Dallas’s words, “Employee satisfaction is important to us, and that shows in the work they do every day.” It’s clear that this family business sees its team as the heartbeat of everything they do, well-compensated, well-trained and genuinely valued.

That same sense of connection extends beyond the showroom. Since moving to San Clemente, Dallas and Nichole have immersed themselves in the South Orange County community they love. They have hosted and participated in local healing events, from group sound baths to breathwork sessions. “We love the community vibe in San Clemente,” Dallas says. “We’re all about helping each other out.”

This blend of technical expertise, intentional leadership and heartfelt community involvement sets California Windows apart in every sense. It is a living expression of what happens when family values and professional excellence align. Their work enhances some of the county’s most beautiful homes, helping families create lasting spaces of comfort, style and belonging.

California Windows replaces existing windows and collaborates with professionals on custom home builds in the beach cities and beyond. Whether you are a homeowner, developer or builder, a visit to the Costa Mesa showroom is the perfect place to begin. As the largest window and door showcase in the area, it offers fully installed displays and knowledgeable professionals ready to guide clients from design inspiration to detailed estimates.

As Dallas puts it, “Since we’ve been in business as long as we have, we’ve seen and installed everything under the sun. We know what works and what doesn’t for every home in Orange County.”

To learn more or begin your project, visit the California Windows showroom and experience the craftsmanship firsthand.

Dana Point Festival of Whales

The Dana Point Festival of Whales

The Dana Point Festival of Whales

March 6 – 8, 2026 at Dana Point Harbor

The Dana Point Festival of Whales returns March 6–8, continuing a proud coastal tradition that began more than five decades ago. Founded by local visionary Don Hansen, whose passion for whale watching helped put Dana Point on the map, the Festival has grown into one of the longest-running celebrations of its kind in the country. This year’s milestone anniversary will be especially meaningful with the longawaited return of the Festival’s beloved “Magical Migration” Parade.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Dana Point Harbor, the Festival honors our city’s identity as the Dolphin & Whale Watching Capital of the World. Each year, thousands gather to witness gray whales traveling along our coastline during one of the longest migrations of any mammal on the planet. Whale watching excursions, marine education programs, and hands-on ocean experiences allow visitors of all ages to connect with the marine environment in unforgettable ways.

The return of the Parade brings an extra spark of excitement to this year’s celebration. Families will gather along the Harbor as marching bands fill the air with music and colorful floats created by local schools, nonprofits, and community groups make their way down the route. It’s the kind of joyful hometown tradition that brings generations together — grandparents, parents, and kids all sharing in the moment — and creates the memories that keep families coming back year after year.

Festival weekend will also feature signature favorites including the Blessing of the Whales kick-off event at the Ocean Institute, Clam Chowder Cook-Off, Dinghy Dash, Concert on the Water, Festival of Whales Carnival, live entertainment, educational lecture series, and family-friendly activities throughout the Harbor. These events create lasting memories while supporting local nonprofit organizations that serve our community year-round.

Whether you’re a longtime resident or first-time visitor, this year’s Festival is a chance to celebrate our ocean heritage and experience Dana Point at its very best.

Mark your calendars for March 6–8, 2026 – and join us for a weekend of whales, waves, and community.

The Street Faire runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the parade starting at 11 a.m. This year’s Swallows Day theme, “Trails, Tails & Traditions – 250 Years!,” relates to The Mission San Juan Capistrano’s celebration of 250 years here in 2026. Come down and check out the hilarious antics. Afterwards at 4 p.m., head over to Los Rios Park with the kids for the 9th Annual Frog-Jumping contest.

The Mercado Street Faire will be happening all day long during Swallows Day, boasting some incredible vendors, live country music, a kid’s zone and plenty of food! The Fiesta Association would like to thank the food vendors who will be serving their delights in the Mercado and the multiple sponsors who helped to support the faire.
