The Camino for Kids

The Camino for Kids

The Camino for Kids

The Camino for KidsFor his 60th birthday, longtime South Orange County resident and renowned concrete artisan, Mark Allen of Stoneface Inc., decided that instead of a relaxing vacation to celebrate his milestone birthday, he was going to take a journey. Mark is slated to walk 540 miles from France to Spain on The Camino de Santiago beginning in June and finishing in mid-July 2019. The Camino de Santiago, meaning the “Way of St. James,” is a large network of ancient pilgrimage routes stretching across Europe and arriving at the tomb of St. James in Santiago de Compostela in Northwest Spain. Many people set out on the Camino for spiritual reasons as they meet other pilgrims, visit historic cathedrals, and discover the large infrastructure of buildings built for pilgrims over the past centuries.

Mark has always had strong ties with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley. He decided he’d turn this adventure into a fundraiser to benefit the many children that depend on the club. You are invited to support Mark on his path. Throughout his journey, Mark will post pictures and video updates, and his family will be sending him motivational messages from the children he is walking for and from those who donate and would like to send him words of encouragement.

To support Mark and his goal to raise $20,000 for the Boys & Girls club, enter the following link into your browser (givsum.com/camino) and click the “sponsorship” button. All proceeds will go directly to The Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley at the time of donation. You can register to sponsor each mile of Mark’s 540-mile journey or you can make an individual contribution. All donations are tax deductible, and you will receive a receipt for tax purposes.

Best of luck to Mark on his pilgrimage as he helps to make a difference for the kids at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley!
