San Clemente Art Gallery Opens Its Largest Show Of The Year

The San Clemente Art Gallery is hosting its largest members show of the year, featuring 125 diverse works by 60 local artists and numerous jewelry pieces by 5 jewelers. Art mediums represented include oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastels, and mixed media, as well as digital art, photography, and artisan jewelry. Art styles range from classical to abstract and contemporary. Nevine Erian is the Featured Artist for the present show. Nevine Erian is a Fluid Artist, specializing in Acrylic Pouring, an abstract style of painting without a brush; her work has earned numerous awards.

The present show runs through Dec. 18, 2025. The gallery is open to the public without charge from noon to 4 p.m. on weekdays (closed on Tuesdays) and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends. It is located in the San Clemente Community Center, 100 N. Calle Seville, San Clemente, CA 92672.

Hours will be extended from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 6, 2025 in celebration of “Puttin’ on the Glitz” at San Clemente’s “Santa’s Village by the Sea.” Gingerbread competition creations will be displayed in the gallery for one week after the Glitz.

The San Clemente Art Gallery is operated by the San Clemente Art Association (SCAA), a non-profit, volunteer-run organization that accepts artists of all levels. SCAA welcomes anyone who enjoys creating art and wants to improve their craft, from beginner to professional. It is a relaxed atmosphere where members network, take inspiration, and make friends, while being able to sell their work in a professional gallery setting.

SCAA was started in 1953, with a goal of encouraging an awareness of the arts in the community. It held its early shows at the San Clemente Public Library and then on the upper floor of the Community Center, moving to its current location in the 1970s. The association honors deserving high school seniors with art scholarships and organizes art events for our Marines, at Camp Pendelton. SCAA sponsors nine judged gallery shows each year and two annual fundraising events that draw participants from within and outside Orange County: “Paint San Clemente,” a plein air painting open competition in June, and the “Arts and Crafts Fair,” a two-day outdoor fair along Avenida Del Mar, in August.

Home Instead

Home Instead

Home Instead

To us, it’s personal

For many adults, one of the biggest decisions on the horizon is how and where their aging parents will live out their golden years. It’s a decision that Jim Kordenbrock, owner and president of Home Instead South Orange County, takes very seriously, and one that he can help you make if that time is drawing near.

Home Instead is not only the largest in-home care company, it’s also the most established. Since 1994, Home Instead has provided professional in-home care for older adults who prefer to age in place, meaning, in the comfort of their own home. Helping clients remain safe and independent at home is their mission, delivered through trusted, compassionate, and high-quality in-home care available 24/7. Every Home Instead “Care Pro” is carefully selected, bonded, insured, state-registered, and background-checked, with ongoing training and quality assurance to ensure exceptional care. Jim was inspired to buy the South Orange County region of the Nebraska-based franchise after caring for his father, who lived with Alzheimer’s in his later years. Jim, an Army veteran with a master’s in Gerontology from USC, understands that for families, safety and care are the priorities when finding at-home care.

However, he also understands that bringing up the topic of care can be very difficult. That’s why Home Instead recently launched a new marketing campaign inspired by a beloved holiday classic, reminding us that the first step to making a care decision is to talk about it. Called “Home, But Not Alone,” the 60-second spot serves as a great conversation-starter. The goal is to get parents and adult children talking about the future, and to start asking questions, assessing needs, and, of course, listening. For resources and guidance to learn more about in-home senior care, you may also visit the “Home, But Not Alone” page via the Home Instead website or by scanning the QR code at the top of the page.

“We have a passion to help people age in place. It’s better for their health, their wellbeing, and their spirit,” he says. His team of over 130 Care Pros guarantees that all shifts are covered, so your loved one is never forgotten. As a former caregiver, Jim knows that his team has to have heart to stay in the business. “And that’s who we hire,” he says.

Each month, Home Instead sends a newsletter to its team, recognizing top caregivers and sharing stories that inspire. Globally, the company honors 10 standout Care Pros each year from its international network. This year, the South Orange County franchise nominated one of its own, Margarita Arreola, for Global Caregiver of the Year.

“She exudes compassion, kindness, empathy, and a passion to improve the lives of her clients.” In fact, he says her work ethic and the love she brings to her work are something that truly separates Home Instead from competitors. A professional caregiver since 1995, Margarita says she cares for her clients like family. The daughter of one of her clients says that Margarita has brought her family peace of mind. “Margarita provides simple encouragement that brings my mom to life. In fact, she brings a smile to my mom every single day.”

And for Jim Kordenbrock, a local owner since 2020, the work continues to be deeply personal. “There are moments,” he says, “that reveal the incredible responsibility that comes with caring for others at the end of their lives. I’ve had clients wait for me to enter their rooms before they take their last breath. That’s truly a privilege.” If your parent is among the 62 million Americans aged 65 and older who could benefit from extra support to continue living independently in their own residence, Home Instead offers free consultations to discuss your family’s needs and create a personalized care plan. Contact them at (949) 347-6767 or visit their website at HomeInstead.com/301 for more information.

If you live outside of the South OC area, which includes San Clemente, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, Mission Viejo, Laguna Woods, Rancho Santa Margarita, Coto de Caza, Aliso Viejo, or Ladera Ranch, Jim Kordenbrock will gladly call and introduce you to the correct office.

South OC is decking the halls, lighting the trees and rolling out the fun. Whether you’re after twinkling lights, hometown parades or merry markets, there’s no shortage of ways to celebrate the season in style.

SAN CLEMENTE
In San Clemente, the annual Santa’s Village by the Sea and Puttin’ on the Glitz is December 6 from 4 – 9 p.m. This family-friendly celebration transforms the area around the community center into a winter wonderland, featuring live music, food, hot chocolate, popcorn, games, and even a sledding hill. Local businesses create a fun and festive evening of late-hours holiday shopping and dining, with carolers and street musicians on Avenida Del Mar. Don’t miss Santa’s arrival — starting at the top of Del Mar at 4:30 p.m. The festivities culminate with the lighting of the community Christmas Tree.

DANA POINT
Dana Point’s Holidays at the Harbor runs nightly through the new year. Visitors can enjoy strolling through the harbor’s holiday lights while snapping a picture at the Merry Kiss Me light display. On December 6, Dana Point will also host its Jolly Trolley event, where Santa and his elves will visit various parks to distribute pre-packaged treats, with the final stop at La Plaza Park for the Tree Lighting ceremony and holiday celebration. Mark your calendar for the annual Boat Parade of Lights taking place December 12 to 14 at 6:30 p.m. Boaters decorate their vessels and vie for awards, creating a dazzling display on the water. Lastly, on December 8, Pines Park’s Tree Lighting will take place from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. As part of the tree lighting, Santa and his elves will arrive at Pines Park on his Jolly Trolley to hand out pre-packaged treats for children up to 12 years of age. Residents are requested to bring an unwrapped toy for the Toy Drive.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
The city will host their annual Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration on December 6 at Historic Town Center Park. Beginning at 4 p.m., attendees will enjoy pre-show entertainment, a holiday stage production, and the tree lighting countdown set to begin at approximately 5:45 p.m. Afterwards, locals can stroll over to Los Rios Street and meet costumed characters and enjoy free family activities, including pictures with Santa. The historic Mission San Juan Capistrano kicks off Capistrano Lights on December 19. Visitors will enjoy holiday performances, including Dickens-era carolers, selfies with Santa and beautiful light displays. Capistrano Lights will run on select evenings through December 30, with a nightly tree lighting at 5:05 p.m.

LAGUNA NIGUEL
On December 6 from 5 – 8 p.m., Laguna Niguel will celebrate their Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5:30 p.m.! Be sure to gather for the magical annual Holiday Parade taking place on December 13 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Experience the unique sights and sounds of the holidays with decorative parade floats, marching bands, youth groups, and exotic cars. No parade would be complete without a visit from Santa!

by Dina Scaglione

Meet Shane and Abbey Brown — owners of Crumbl, now with six South OC locations including San Clemente, Laguna Niguel, Ladera Ranch, Rancho Santa Margarita, Lake Forest and Foothill Ranch. The couple dove into 2025 with one location, and by mid-summer they were running six — an ambitious feat for anyone, made even more impressive by the fact that they’re also full-time parents to three small children.

If you could taste happiness, it would be Crumbl. These cookies are next-level good: sweetened to perfection with a soft, chewy texture. Generously sized and playfully themed, Crumbl cookies are cheerfully decorated, and the weekly rotating menu keeps fans coming back for another flavor-filled adventure. Just when you think you’ve found your favorite (hello, Caramel Apple!), a new flavor drops and steals the spotlight. Rotating options include Dubai Chocolate Cheesecake, S’mores, Snickerdoodle, Strawberry Cake, Mint Chip and Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chunk. With the holidays around the corner, watch for festive treats like Holiday Confetti and Peppermint. For the carb-conscious confection lover, Crumbl offers scaled-down trios or their slender Chocolate Chip Cookie thins.

Heading to a holiday party or office gathering? Their catering is a sweet addition to any celebration or corporate event. Cookies arrive beautifully boxed in Crumbl’s signature pink packaging and are always a crowd favorite — whether it’s a birthday, meeting or family get-together. The team is friendly and genuinely passionate about baking cookies that brighten the ordinary and sweeten even the toughest day. Ordering is easy with self-serve touchpad menus at the front counter or by calling ahead for quick pickup.

Crumbl reminds us that life is worth celebrating — the big wins and the not-so-great days too. Whether you’re marking a moment or just need a pick-me-up, Crumbl has the magic to turn frowns upside down and transform even the dullest of days.

Rivi Endo

Rivi Endo

Rivi Endo

When you meet Tyler A. Davis, DMD, MS, you quickly sense two things: a deep love for people and a deep respect for roots—both the dental kind and the community kind. As a fourth-generation dentist and now founder of Rivi Endo, Dr. Davis is blending proven expertise with modern innovation right here in San Clemente.

“I wanted Rivi Endo to feel like home,” states Dr. Davis. “A place where patients experience precision, comfort, and genuine care—from root to recovery.”

A CALIFORNIA NATIVE WITH DEEP ROOTS
Dr. Davis grew up in Downey, California, surrounded by the sights and sounds of family life in a dental household. Dentistry runs through the Davis family like a strong genetic code— spanning four generations devoted to restoring health and confidence through smiles. After earning his dental degree from UNLV and completing intensive specialty training in Endodontics at Saint Louis University (SLU), Dr. Davis moved his family back to his home state in 2021. Since then, he has served patients in and around San Clemente, developing a loyal following for his calm approach and meticulous technique. Fluent in Spanish, he values the opportunity to connect with and care for patients all over Southern California.

Now, with Rivi Endo, he’s established his own practice in the city where his children are growing their roots.

“We named it after Riviera Beach—one of our favorite places to spend time as a family,” Tyler explains. “The iconic Rivi tunnel inspired our logo, symbolizing connection, roots, and the path back to comfort.”

WHAT EXACTLY IS AN ENDODONTIST?
Most people only think about root canals when they need one. Endodontists, however, think about them all the time. Dr. Davis specializes in diagnosing and treating pain originating from inside the tooth—specifically the dental pulp and root canals. In simple terms, a root canal saves a natural tooth that might otherwise be lost due to infection, trauma, or deep decay.

“Our goal is always to save your natural tooth,” says Dr. Davis. “With proper treatment and restoration, a tooth that has undergone a root canal can last a lifetime.”

At Rivi Endo, that goal is supported by advanced tools and methods that set the practice apart. Every detail is designed to put patients at ease. From the calming atmosphere to the gentle, precise care, the experience feels nothing like the anxiety often associated with root canals. Patients are often surprised by how comfortable— and even peaceful—the process can be.

INNOVATION MEETS PRECISION
Inside the new Rivi Endo office— located at 1001 Avenida Pico, Suite N —technology meets tranquility. The space is light, modern, and welcoming, a reflection of Dr. Davis’s philosophy that technical excellence and patient comfort should go hand in hand. Every tool and technique is chosen with one goal in mind—exceptional precision and patient comfort:

  • 3D Cone Beam CT Imaging (CBCT) for ultra-detailed views of tooth anatomy and surrounding bone.
  • High-magnification Zeiss operating microscope used in every procedure for enhanced visibility and accuracy.
  • Laser technology implemented to disinfect the root canal system at the highest possible level.

These tools aren’t just bells and whistles— they enable outcomes that are measurably better for patients. Dr. Davis even published peer-reviewed research on cone-beam technology in the Journal of Endodontics, helping set standards for how advanced imaging improves diagnosis and treatment precision.

“Technology should make dentistry more human, not less,” he explains. “When we can see better, we can treat better—and that means faster healing, less discomfort, and longerlasting results.”

SPECIALIZED CARE WHEN IT MATTERS MOST
Beyond traditional root canal therapy, Rivi Endo offers root-end surgery (apicoectomy) for cases that require microsurgical precision, as well as trauma-focused treatment for dental injuries—an area of particular importance in an active coastal community.

“We see dental trauma from sports, surfing, e-bikes, and all the things that make life here fun,” Dr. Davis notes. “If someone chips or dislodges a tooth, seeing an endodontist right away can often mean the difference between saving or losing that tooth.”

His background in managing dental trauma allows him to stabilize and treat injured teeth so that patients—especially young athletes—can heal and keep their natural smiles.

A FAMILY-FIRST PHILOSOPHY
Step inside Rivi Endo and you’ll feel the personal touch right away. Dr. Davis and his wife, Sarah, designed the space not just for technical precision but also to create a welcoming environment—with elements inspired by the activities his family loves. As a father of five children, ranging in age from two to twelve, Dr. Davis says they’re the reason he and Sarah work so hard to build something meaningful. “Family keeps me grounded,” he reflects. “It reminds me why I do what I do—helping people feel better, get out of pain, and get back to what matters most.”

LOOKING AHEAD
With the doors now open, Dr. Davis is excited to welcome both local residents and referring dentists to experience a new level of endodontic care in South Orange County.

“This community has been such a blessing to our family,” he says with a smile. “Rivi Endo is my way of giving something back—with compassion at the heart of everything we do.”

For Dr. Tyler Davis, it all comes back to roots— family roots, community roots, and the roots he saves every day.

Chiropractic, Acupuncture & Therapeutic Massage in San Clemente

by Victoria Kurtz

South Orange County families in search of holistic health solutions have a new reason to visit Trestles Chiropractic in San Clemente. Dr. Ryan, known for his commitment to patientcentered care for over 12 years, has recently expanded the practice’s offerings with the perfect addition: acupuncture.

The office now welcomes Vina, a skilled acupuncturist who brings a unique expertise to the practice. Currently available twice a week at the Camino de los Mares office, Vina specializes in a Japanese-style of acupuncture that new patients often find less intimidating. This gentler approach uses fewer needles and penetrates the skin more shallowly, offering a calming and comfortable experience. Notably, she has had tremendous success treating clients with Bell’s Palsy, a neurological condition that causes sudden, temporary weakness or paralysis of the muscles on one side of the face.

Among the most in-demand services at Trestles is therapeutic massage. The practice boasts a team of three massage therapists whose more than 50 years of combined experience is so highly sought after that appointments are often booked a month in advance. The wait is worth it. Young athletes rely on these sessions to soothe and lengthen tight muscles, enhancing performance and speeding up recovery. Pregnant women also find comfort and relief in the office’s specialized prenatal massage offerings. These therapeutic massages are far from spa-like relaxation; they’re medically focused treatments that blend deep tissue and sports massage techniques to address specific physical conditions.

Dr. Ryan emphasizes the value of having multiple disciplines under one roof. “One of the biggest benefits of having massage services in my office is that I can go talk to them and explain exactly what the patient needs,” he says. “That direct access to communication is important.” This collaborative approach ensures every patient receives care that is not only expert, but also highly coordinated, personalized and convenient.

Chiropractic services are provided by both Dr. Ryan and Dr. Sydney, who has been a part of the practice for more than two years. They offer a wide range of adjustments and techniques, tailoring every plan to meet the individual needs of their patients. Dr. Sydney, in particular, is known for her gentle touch, and she frequently sees Medicare patients as well as those dealing with foot pain. She has developed a strong reputation for treating conditions like Morton’s neuroma and plantar fasciitis—painful conditions in the feet or heels—using warm laser therapy to reduce inflammation and speed healing. She also administers the majority of the practice’s laser treatments, which are ideal for relieving symptoms related to arthritis, tendonitis and sports injuries.

“Dr. Sydney brings a lot of herself to the practice,” Dr. Ryan adds. She’s also recognized for her expertise in kinesiology taping and her use of instrument-assisted soft tissue techniques, similar to the Graston method. These specialized tools and skills are particularly helpful for treating the growing number of pickleball-related injuries and other sports trauma common in the area.

Patients suffering from TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorders can also find relief at Trestles. TMJ issues often lead to jaw pain, headaches, difficulty chewing, and even neck or shoulder tension. The team uses a combination of gentle chiropractic adjustments and soft tissue therapies to relieve pressure and restore alignment, helping patients find longlasting comfort and improved function.

If you’ve been wondering whether a chiropractor or acupuncturist could help you, fall is a great time to explore your options. Consultations are available, and new patients are always welcome. “People really appreciate the fact that we’re open until 7 p.m. on most weekdays,” says Dr. Ryan. The office is also open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., making it easy to schedule care around school, work or other commitments.

Call Dr. Ryan today at (949) 284-6620 or visit trestleschiropractic.com. Trestles Chiropractic is located at 653 Camino de los Mares in San Clemente.
