The Laguna Playhouse: Featuring Hershey Felder in Maestro
The oldest theatre on the West Coast celebrates its 90th year of bringing stellar theatre to Orange County. The 2010-2011 season is no different, filled with wonderful comedies, musicals and one-of-a-kind productions.
The Laguna Playhouse kicks off 2011 with internationally acclaimed actor, playwright and Steinway concert artist Hershey Felder in MAESTRO: The Art of Leonard Bernstein. This new work, from the creators of George Gershwin Alone, Monsieur Chopin and Beethoven, As I Knew Him, runs from January 4th through February 6th.
With a story spanning the entire twentieth century, Leonard Bernstein, America’s greatest musician, broke through every artistic ceiling possible to become the world’s musical ambassador. As a conductor, composer, pianist, author, teacher, librettist and television star, Leonard Bernstein knew no boundaries. Hershey Felder takes audiences on a fascinating journey as he brings the composer of West Side Story, Candide, Mass and more to life.
Attending a performance at The Laguna Playhouse is not just another night out. One of the attractive elements about seeing a Playhouse performance is that patrons can enjoy a sumptuous lunch or dinner in Laguna Beach and then take a picturesque stroll to the Moulton Theater for world-class entertainment. Numerous dining options abound in Laguna, making it the perfect destination to share with friends, family or that special someone.
For those who have extra time, wander among the many downtown art galleries and unique boutiques that have made Laguna Beach renowned as an artist’s community. Who knows—you might just find that artistic treasure you’ve been seeking.
