We regret the previous misprint of Dr. Glenn Craft’s Top Docs spread in the October 2020 edition of The Local DISH Magazine. Our error included an image of a former colleague and editorial that was inaccurate. We apologize for our mistake. The information in this current spread for Dr. Craft is timely and correct.

Monarch Veterinary Hospital
GLENN CRAFT, DVM AND KELLY ALCALA, DVM
Monarch Veterinary Hospital is now in its 19th year at Clubhouse Plaza on Niguel Road, tucked in the Hills of South Laguna Niguel. Pet owners in this community love to take their dogs for long walks down the canyon to Salt Creek or Dana Point Harbor, or to the many local parks, especially during the COVID-19 lockdown. Over these nearly 2 decades, MVH has earned a solid reputation for exceptional pet healthcare, has nurtured trusting relationships with clients, and created a culture in the practice such that it is non-chaotic, peaceful, and a place their pets actually enjoy visiting. A major remodel/expansion finished in 2019 has doubled MVH’s space, assuring its practice culture for the future. It now offers 4 exam rooms, a spacious, peaceful lobby, separate cat ward, a full-service bathing area, and room to accommodate what it calls “senior spa days” to keep the aged pets strong and active, (basically a therapeutic rejuvenating day that can include a bath, laser therapy for arthritis, and interaction with staff.
Dr. Glenn Craft and his wife, Lisa, envisioned just such a facility when they returned home to California in 2002 after spending 4 years serving in Thailand with Christian Veterinary Mission, a community development NGO that operates in the poorest parts of the world where livestock is the main key to the local economy. Once home, by working together, they have established a veterinary practice that balances compassionate personal touch with exceptional hightech veterinary medicine and seek to have clients’ visit experience exceed their expectation each and every time. The hospital continues to offer the full range of veterinary professional services from wellness checks, immunizations, general surgery, dental care, therapeutic laser, bathing, ultrasound, as well as digital radiography with STAT radiology consults available. The staff at MVH is exceedingly experienced and provides a level of expertise you can trust. As of June, clients have the choice of curbside or “concierge” service, or they can come inside just as before COVID-19, with precautionary standards being practiced and in continual flux as things change.
Five years ago, Dr. Kelly Alcala became an Associate DVM at MVH and brings with her an impressive reputation of being very compassionate and highly competent and much loved by clients and staff. She actually worked part time at MVH since 2006 before becoming an Associate. She and Dr Craft are very like-minded in practice and in their communication style with clients. Both doctors have established strong relationships with carefully chosen specialists at facilities in South Orange County, including a mobile cardiologist, Dr. Fred Brewer, who comes to the practice whenever he is needed, and Dr. Shenandoah Diehl, who is available for expert ultrasonography and consultation by appointment, and most recently with a mobile surgeon, Dr. Zachory Smith, who teams with MVH staff in performing special surgeries previously referred out to specialty hospitals.
MVH’s consistently positive reviews exemplify its commitment to delivering quality care and the staff takes pride in providing the best customer service possible.
