LOOKING BENEATH THE SURFACE
Venous insufficiency occurs when valves within the veins are no longer functioning properly, allowing blood to flow backward and pool in the legs. While visible veins can be one sign, some patients experience symptoms without obvious varicose veins on the surface. Elite Vein Institute uses noninvasive venous ultrasound to identify problem veins beneath the skin and help determine an individualized treatment plan.

Today’s treatments offer alternatives to the more invasive vein procedures of the past. Depending on the condition, options at Elite Vein Institute include endovenous ablation, sclerotherapy and Varithena injectable foam. These minimally invasive, officebased approaches are designed to close or treat unhealthy veins so blood can naturally redirect to healthier ones.

EXPERIENCE WITH A PERSONAL APPROACH
Dr. Luhan is board-certified in general surgery, surgical critical care and venous and lymphatic medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Ulm in Germany, she completed a research semester at Harvard University, a general surgery residency at the University of Arizona and fellowship training in intensive care and trauma surgery at UC Irvine Medical Center, building the foundation for her specialized approach to vein care.

That extensive surgical background now informs a practice devoted to vein health. Each patient receives an individualized care plan, with treatments performed in the office and an emphasis on minimizing discomfort and downtime.
